Marketing with Text Messages

Social Networking
I’m in the process of researching any and all unique or alternative methods for using text messages (SMS) as a local marketing tool.
If any of my friends or readers have some input, please post a comment pointing me in the right direction. Fell free to leave a link in the body of your message to where I can get more information on any cool text programs you have come accross.
Thanks much!
TAM

Text message marketing is a great idea. I don’t have any direct links to share but would also love to see what others will post.

I was hoping someone would come up with some tips, as I’d like to know myself.
Many active twitter users get their twitter messages via a text message on their cell phones, so Twitter can be of some help. But I suspect that is not the answer you are looking for.

I do not have any cool programs to share, but I have been involved in running SMS competitions for corporates. As a means of entering competitions SMS is absolutely unsurpassed, especially when focusing on off-line folks.

The web based solutions seem to be have strengths in simplifying sending messages to a list of recipients. What they don’t seem to offer, and what often can quite difficult, is the ability to quickly target appropriate recipients on criteria such as region, age, gender and so forth.

The Android operating system is designed from the ground-up to be highly internet connected. This was the whole design philosophy behind creating Android in the first place…

Get used to the fact that we are judged constantly by others and we also judge others. We as humans cannot avoid it as we consult our writing on our walls constantly and if it does not fit to our judgment what the other does we judge. You do it, I do it everyone does it.

Thanks for the insight on some of the draw backs people can run into. With that said, it seems that if people consider using this tradegy, they need to ensure to use all the aspects of it in order to get the full benefit.

Tam, just found your blog through Sire’s. I just got into mobile phone marketing and actually created a page on my blog about it. Take a look at it and let me know what you think. This technology WILL be the future of advertising. You can find the page at http://www.anthonytori.com/mobile-coupons/.

This post is quite old but the idea is nevertheless brilliant! My usual response to a text message from an unknown sender though, especially if it’s sent to me everyday is that… It’s spam…
